Exhibition in Kyoto
At the initiative of Eric Pillaut, creative director of many prestigious magazines over 20 years and 4th year Graphic Design Art Direction photography teacher, 22 photographs based on the theme of love (the main topic for this year’s photography festival) were selected from 60 created during his photography workshop. These photographs were then exhibited at the Murakamijyu Gallery in Kyoto for the KG+ « off » event during the Kyotographie festival. Jules Banide (2015 graduate) led the exhibition’s design and technical team ; responsible for scenic design, display systems, exhibition organisation and photographic prints. The 11 Penninghen students who were present at the exhibition in Kyoto met a wide range of design and photography professionals and also had the opportunity to discover the Benrido Atelier as part of a unique visit organized by Aya Yamamoto. This photographic reproduction studio is one of the world’s few remaining producers of collotypes, providing opportunities for photographers to collaborate with master artisan printers and discover this lost craft. Penninghen was the only school to participate in this important photography festival event and design professionals were impressed by the creativity of the students’ work.
